In May I planted 9 tomatoe plants....I wanted to can salsa this year. I think I planted 6 plants last year. Last year was not a good year for me because I hardly grew any... Needless to say I didnt can. This year however I have hit the mother load! Everyother day we are picking at least enough tomotoes for me to can one batch. Our plant are fat and loaded with the wonderful flavor of red tomatoes. Crazy as it may seem each time I walk down to the garden I am amazed to be part of this sweet miracle. It is a miracle that a small seed can grow into a huge plant and provide substance for my family to eat.
I guess I can have it all because out of our 6 green pepper plants I have not a pepper... Maybe I will figure our what I did wrong for next year... This year however I am grateful for the produce section at Walmart!
Here's to HOME CANNED SALSA!

Yeah! Good Job! You'll have to share your salsa recipe with me. I've been trying all different kinds. The last one I made about burned my mouth off! I too am amazed as I walk through me garden, that my little seed packets turned into so much food!
I want a tomato:) I love homemade salsa. I tried to plant some tomato plants a few years ago and couldn't keep those darn worms away. They have eyes the size of a human's. Tell Marc to ask Scott about getting his butt kicked my a tomato worm.lol.
We have several tomato plants at work. Several cherry tomato plants and a few regular ones similar to what your growing. One year we made salsa with them and it was the best we ever had. It's amazing the difference a fresh tomato makes.
Nowadays we just gobble them up with our BLT's, Cheeseburgers and sometimes just a bit of the old salt and pepper.
Yummah
I'm jealous... We were going to plant a garden this year and it never worked out... Hopefully next year. I'm still trying to make some homemade salsa by visiting the farmer's market. Wish me luck.
Yummm! Those tomatoes look SO good! We are going to start a community garden at my church and I think I might need to get a spot and grow some veggies!!!
Mmmm...I volunteer to try out the salsa to make sure it is worthy to feed your family!!
I've been busy canning as well. My mother-in-law just called yesterday to ask me how I wanted my green beans and applesauce canned. That's right I am lame. I still don't know how to can and I have cupboards full of canned goods from her. I keep telling her to hold her horses and I'll get up there to learn/help but she tells me produce doesn't wait on a doctor's schedule. I have begged her to can down here but she never does. Life is so hard!!
