We may be standing on different Continents this year but our love grows more and more!

Once again we are off and running at the crack of dawn! We are going to a very small village about 4 hours away. We are going to participate in a school dedication. I am excited to experience this fabulous cultural experience!

Dear Jordie,
6 more days and I will be home. I have so many stories to share with you! Yesterday your mama met the Queen Mother of Sunyami region. Everyone calls her Nana... I took many many pictures of her. I found her beautiful feh feeh fe. That means beautiful in Twee. She gave me one of her bracelets which is a great honor. Of course I cried knowing I was the only one who would this great honor today. She liked me. I showed her our family picture. She asked to keep it with our address. She laughed as she saw your picture. She thought you were beautful too. Many people are curious about why our Noah is black. They are happy to know we will love and care for him. I tell them how much you and your brothers are so helpful and kind to him.
When the Queen was leaving she asked me for a dollar. I did not have a dollar but I did have a new pack of gum. She was happy with the gift.
We left Sunyani yesterday and have arrived in Kumasi. We will be training more midwives today and tomorrow. I will send another note about this subject since my time is short this morning.
I am not able to post pictures here but will post some when I get to Accra.

Elmina Castle

W e toured the Elmina Castle today. It is near Cape Cost. it is set above a fishing village. It is a bit eary as you drive up to this castle to think of it's purpose and use. This castle was used for slave deportation.

No comments please on my "flock of seagull hair do..." the wind was wild.

This particular cell held Africans who tried to fight or revolt. They would never walk out alive. One by one they would starve to death. If there were 3 men in there and the 1 man died on day 1 that man would not be removed. He would stay until all the men died.
This is the door of "NO RETURN" it is narrow. This is the door the slaves would leave the castle from... They would walk a plank straight onto the ship.
This is the male holding cell. There are 2 windows for air circulation... I can not imagine how hot it would be in there with hundreds of men. It was hot in there today and there and there were only 7 of us.
I found it odd to have this noble symbol above the door you enter the castle in. There was nothing noble that went on beyond this point.

We visited KAKUM national park this morning. Aside from the beauty there has been rope bridges constructed up in the tree tops. There are only 4 national parks like this in the world. It was stated that we were walking 200 ft. above ground. I have to believe them since I could not see the ground. Really, it was an amazing experience. There were 7 bridges total. By bridge 4 I was a bit shakie! I was so high up and walking on a small bridge. I am so grateful for this amazing experience. You can't help not marveling at Gods creations. How blessed I am to have seen it from an angels view.

Maybe a little strange....

This is the inside of a coco plant. I was surprised it was white. You can suck on the seed "the white stuff" I figure the inside of that is the coco. It was sweet to the taste. A mixture of strawberry and mango. After our canopy walk we purchased a fresh coconut. A man cut it so we could drink the sweet water. It was sweet yet not refreshing...

Vigour needed or not... I am NOT trying this one!
