Midnight Snack
We DONT do Sleepovers... Unless.... We get tricked real good!
It seems that Benny gets to sleep over "here" and Jordie gets to sleep over "there" after a fun date night with Wayne and Lisa more times than not. The kids pull the "Cousin" act and are super sweet... so... We the tired parents give in. Really we love Benny! And Carrie is the perfect big "sister" for Jordie. They are all peas in a pod when they are together... I guess you can call that {Family} I was finishing cleaning up the kitchen super late tonight when Isaac came up with a food order... It went something like this:
Isaac: Mom, I need to eat. I am so so hungry.
Mom: It is late what are you hungry for?
Isaac: You can just make 3 ham sandwiches.
Mom: ?????
Isaac: Thanks, Mom..[he exits to the basement to finish watching a movie with the boys]
Marc-a-Roni: Are you really just going to take that order? [making a whipping motion in the air]
Mom: Sure, but can you imagine how many he will asks for when they are all teenagers?
Isaac: Umm... you only need to make 2 ham sandwiches, Ammon wants a peanut butter and honey.
Mom: That sounds like Ammon... even though for the past week he has informed me every morning I make his lunch that he is sick of peanut butter and honey...
It is 12:09 am and the boys happily have gone to the basement with sandwich in hand to finish their movie. What a great scene before I crawl in bed!

20 Years for my Marc-a-Roni
We ventured off to Peoria this weekend for Marc-a-Roni's 20 class reunion.... He was not all that excited. Once we got there and found the group all worries were set aside and old friendships were renewed! Our kids had a great time making new friends while we all chatted at the park.
I feel pretty dumb for not taking any pictures of Marc-a-Roni and his classmates. Maybe we can get some from Kenny!
Matt's girl, "Aunt Sara" is always game to spend the weekend with us! It was great to see their new home! Congrats on the newest purchase!
Grandma Gladys and Aunt Kristie came for dinner with us one night. Of course everyone needed a Noah fix. Grandma Gladys was "KIND" enough to bring the kids a {Goodie Bag}. Guess what they found... BANDAIDS... It is amazing what kids can do when they are bored...
Noah enjoyed his Grandpa Tom
No trip is complete with out the chance to hang out with our FAVORITE Uncle! It didnt matter who was holding Noah Uncle wanted him. We feel so blessed to be able to know and love this special man!
Noah would not have anything to do with his Siti until the last day. He wanted her while we waited for our breakfast this morning. Once he had her he did something I would have never guessed he would.
He fell sweetly asleep in his Siti's arms... Now he does not do that with just anybody!

Prayer Changes Things
I dont think I have ever been one to ask my friends to pray for someone we dont all already know...I guess there is always a first. Carol (my sister in law and BFF) and I were talking on the phone yesterday. We talk everyday. Maybe more then one time... anyway that is not were I am going with this story. Carol said she had to run because the Relief Society was going to do a final clean on a home that was just built. The family was just moving in. She said the mom's name was Shauna. Shauna and her sweet family are going though quite a struggle right now. Shauna has been diagnose with breast cancer. As I read through her blog I was overwhelmed with emotion. My immediate thought was how can I help this family? My quite answer was to add them to my prayers. So sisters, and friends will you please join with me. Will you please enlarge her prayer circle. Lets all pray for Shauna! Her family is moving this weekend... Moving is exhausting... I am sure a nudge from Kansas City may help.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month... PRAY FOR A CURE!

Glenn Beck
I think that I have become "addicted" to some kind of TV the first year of each of our children's lives. You sit and feed and watch...right? While we were in Houston I was introduced to Glenn Beck. My cousin had posted a video clip of Glenn on his news talk show. He talked about his sadness at the loss of our, then, current Prophet, President Hinkley. By this short clip I was hooked. We got home and he was put on our season pass on the TIVO. I AM NOT A POLITICAL JUNKIE. I don't pay attention to the news. I don't pay attention to the stock market. My vote is cast mostly based on moral issues. It is all a bit too much for me to deal with. When 911 hit I had to turn away from the news in order to keep myself together. I find most news reports negative and scary... But then I found Glenn Beck. He may be the most news worthy mouth out there. I love watching him! Yes, he point out the facts... our economy is in the toilet. But he does it in a way I can follow and understand. The past 2 nights Noah has me up around 11pm for a cuddle and a bottle. I have been lucky enough to watch his report. He said something about his family which made me wonder what sort of family he had. So I went searching... I found this video clip... Maybe I like him for his WITTY, HUMBLE personality. For now... I am thankful I have a "good guy" to watch on TV.

New Temple Site Announced!
"For the temple serving the greater Kansas City area, the site will be in Clay County, Missouri, on residential land within the Kansas City limits that is already being developed by the Church. The development is known as Shoal Creek." http://www.newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/new-temple-site-locations-announced
FYI... this "Shoal Creek" area is less then 5 miles from our home. I can not express my gratitude and excitement! I mean really....The love I feel from our Heavenly Father right now is almost more then I can handle!

Lion King
After the show our "tender heart" Isaac was all teary eyed and said "When are you going to die dad?" It was then that I had remembered Isaac NOT liking the movie for this reason alone. We assured him that we were here to be his parents. That sometimes shows have topics like this to remind us how much we love each other. Isaac is so special to us. He helps us stay tuned in to what is important. There is never a meal that is not blessed, a soul that he doesn't try to save. We sure love you Isaac. I marvel each day at the love Heavenly Father has for us to give us you to watch and care over.

October's Relief Society Presidency Message
It was my turn to write the message for our RS newsletter this month. I spent a good week praying and searching for the right subject. Most of you that know me know that the "scare tactic" approach is not my gig. Yes we are to feel a sense of urgency for things that are good. But scared? The following is what the Lord helped me come up with. I think that this message is more for me to keep in check. I am so grateful for the promptings of the spirit. For what it is worth...
My Dear Sisters,
Fall may very well be my favorite season! I love the crispness in the air, the beautiful brown and orange colors that blanket our view, the smell of burning woodstoves and the first glimpses of the morning frost.
I worked diligently this summer gathering and preserving the harvest, so that this winter my family will be able to enjoy the wonderful tastes of the fruits and vegetables that grew this past summer. I was thrilled to find other sisters preparing in the same way.
As I prayed and pondered what message to share this month, I felt prompted to focus on our current events. This past week the news has been swarming with the crisis of our country’s economy. What a scary subject. It is natural to fear the unknown… but… our Heavenly Father wants us to FEAR NOT…yet to PREPARE for such potential challenges. This past Sunday Bishop Litster asked each family to go through the mini-budgeting course found on www.providentliving.org. Marc and I followed his counsel. I found this course so interesting… the world says to make a budget and follow it. This gospel-oriented plan asks us not only to make and follow a budget, but to ask our Heavenly Father to guide us and support us in this great effort. We have found already, that as we follow this budgeting approach we find great personal peace in this world full of uncertainty. The Lord always keeps His promises as we hearken to gospel truths.
For those who may be inclined to feel that this “mountain” of personal/family discipline and preparation is too steep to climb, or just too overwhelming, I leave this thought from Sister Barbara B Smith, former Relief Society general president: “Life is made up of small daily acts. Saving in food budgets come by pennies, not only by dollars. Clothing budgets are cut by mending stitch by stitch, seam by seam. Houses are kept in good repair nail by nail. Provident homes come not by decree or by broad brushstroke. Provident homes come from small acts performed well day after day. When we see in our minds the great vision, then we discipline ourselves by steady, small steps that make it happen.”
Catching the vision of self-reliance is an important part of our responsibility to live providently and to help others in these days of trial. In this effort, the Lord is certainly our greatest resource. If we prayerfully invite His help and guidance…ACT upon it… and we will, step by step, be prepared.
Please know we love you. May you be blessed as you follow the counsel of the Lord and His leaders. And we wish you a happy and plentiful harvest.
With Love,
Kiera
